What to see and do in Point Roberts
Point Roberts, Washington is located 30 miles north of Bellingham, Washington and 22 miles south of Vancouver, B.C., immediately adjacent to the lower mainland community of Tsawwassen.
Point Roberts is unique because although it is part of the United States, it is separated from the US mainland by Canada and the waters of Boundary Bay and the Georgia Straight.
The community of approximately 1,300 residents swells to over 5,000 in the summer months, yet it is always peaceful and rural. There are virtually no street lights, one main commercial road, a few charming restaurants and some beautiful beaches and parks to enjoy.
Below is a list of the main attractions Point Roberts has to offer visitors - all of these sites are just a 10 minute drive from the cottage we have for rent:
Maple Beach
We love Maple Beach! The tide goes out for over a mile and the beach is warm and sandy. It's great for swimming, usually quiet and has spectacular views of the North Shore Mountains to Mount Baker.
Maple Beach is located on the east side of Point Roberts at the end of Roosevelt Way, the old US/Canada border road. It is a public beach that faces Boundary Bay. The beach is just 8 blocks - about a 10 minute level walk - from the cottage.

Lighthouse Marine Park
Another public beach is located at the south tip of Point Roberts via Lighthouse Park at 811 Marine Drive. This 2,200 acre park is known for whale sighting at the Orca Center and offers a playground, picnic tables and a 5,200 square-foot boardwalk - all with fantastic ocean views.
To get here, take Tyee Drive to where it turns into Marine Drive and follow to the southwest corner.
Point Roberts Golf & Country Club
Point Roberts world class Golf Course was designed by Graham Cooke/Wayne Carleton and opened in 2001. Golf Digest ranked the Point Roberts Golf & Country Club the 8th Best New Course in the USA out of about 200 nominated courses. It is opened to all levels of golfers and has an abundance of wild life and ocean views.

Point Roberts Marina Resort
The Point Roberts Marina Resort feeds directly into the Straight of Georgia and is the closest mooring location to the Gulf Islands. This private marina is professionally engineered with an entrance dredged to 12'. It has modern concrete docks and berthing
for vessels up to 150'. The resort is security staffed and
offers gated access to parking, docks, restrooms, showers and laundry.
Lily Point
Lily Point is often referred to as the most scenic place in Point Roberts. The point has a sheer cliff (not visible in the picture here) that is quite striking to see. To get here, follow Tyee Drive to A.P.A. Road and continue to the end near a cemetery. Walk to the end of the street and look for the path down to the beach. Be careful - it is steep and there are no railings! This is a hike for those that are a little more daring and fit.
